Imogen Heap
Baby, behave, we’ll make it work [x8]
Are you with me? [x3]
You’re not golden
And I’m getting tired
Act like you own the place
When really you’ve only just arrived
I caught first glimmers
In hides and skins
Look who’s all grown up
Black swanning about the solar winds
You’re gonna lose it all
And find yourself on your knees
So, get a grip and you might
Flow, reverse the great, slow bleed
I’ve tried patience, but
You always want a war
This house won’t tolerate any more
Stop this right away
Put that down and clean this mess up
End of conversation
Put your back in it and
Make it up to me now
The cold shoulder
Folded arms and looking up
You’ve never listened
And carry on careless, regardless
This is not a fire drill and
If we hold any hope
It’s harmonic connection
And stereos in biosis
These legoland empires
Choking out mine now
You’re everywhere, everywhere
Multiplying around me, child
A strain on my heart
This rock can’t tolerate any more
Stop this right away
Put that down and clean this mess up
End of conversation
Put your back in it and
Make it up to me now
Baby, behave, we’ll make it work [x8]
(Baby, do you love me?)
Woah, oh, oh, oh
Woah, oh, oh, oh
Woah, oh, oh, oh (yeh)
Woah, oh, oh, oh [cont]
You’re only what you give back [x5]
Back
Stop this right away
(Baby, behave, we’ll make it work) [cont]
Put that down and clean this mess up
End of conversation
Put your back in it and
Make it up to me now
Stop this right away
Put that down and clean this mess up
End of conversation
Put your back in it and
Make it up to me now
Are you with me? [x3]
You’re only what you give back [x5]
Back
(You’re not golden
And I’m getting tired
Act like you own the place
When really you’ve only just arrived)
This song is so gangster! If you don’t think so, clearly you’re deaf. Clearly this song is just about getting rich, as well as getting lit.
Camp Lo is an American hip hop duo. They are from The Bronx, New York, and the duo was formed in 1995. The duo consists of rappers, Sonny Cheeba (Salahadeen Wilds) and Geechi Suede (Saladine Wallace), both of Muslim upbringing. Initially signed with Profile Records, Camp Lo made an appreance with their first single “Coolie High”, on the “The Great White Hype” albumn. The song was a minor hit, but when they realeased their second single, “Luchini” they broke billboards hot 100. Their style has elements of funk and jazz in their sound, and Luchini is the best song to drive too, ever!

MUMFORD AND SONS! I love them, so, so much! Right now they are my favorite band, for sure. Since they formed in December 2007, the members of Mumford & Sons have shared a common purpose: to make music that matters, without taking themselves too seriously. Which is EXACTLY what they do! The band is made up of four young men from West London in their early twenties. They are all staunch friends, with romance in their hearts and aren’t afraid to take chances with their music. Marcus Mumford (vocals, guitar, drums, mandolin), “Country” Winston Marshall (vocals, banjo, dobro), Ben Lovett (vocals, keyboards, accordion, drums) and Ted Dwane (vocals, string bass, drums, guitar) Their style is kinnda that of a folk-rock, indie band. Out of their first playing session in the summer of 2007, all four of them realized they had to be in a band after hearing how unique their song was. Out of this session came their first band songs: “Awake My Soul” and “White Blank Page”, highlights on their debut album. You’ve probably also heard of their single “Little Lion Man” and “The Cave”, but those jewels came along later.
One of the reasons I love this band and specifically this song is their lyrics. Their songs are often balla-like, and I like that because they stay true to the folk influence on their music. “Winter Winds” in the first stanza (and I do say stanza because it is poetry) it talks about a beautiful girl he met. The chorus talks about inner conflict, fighting with himself weather he should be with this girl or not, but as it say’s in the lyrics, “This time no”. The song is about overcoming, and learning to be happy. My favorite stanza is, “And if your strife strikes at your sleep, Remember spring swaps snow for leaves, You’ll be happy and wholesome again,When the city clears and sun ascends”. It’s hopeful, and it’s good advice for anyone going through a rough situation. Just, you’ll be happy and wholesome again…what more can you say? Time heals everything. Mumford and sons is my absolute favorite! They speak to me, with everyone of their songs! They stay true to themselves and their confident in their selves, which leads me to believe they will be a very successful band.

As the winter winds litter London with lonely hearts
Oh the warmth in your eyes swept me into your arms
Was it love or fear of the cold that led us through the night?
For every kiss your beauty trumped my doubt
And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no, This time no"We'll be washed and buried one day my girl
And the time we were given will be left for the world
The flesh that lived and loved will be eaten by plague
So let the memories be good for those who stay
And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no"
Yes, my heart told my head
"This time no, This time no"
Oh the shame that sent me off from the God that I once loved
Was the same that sent me into your arms
Oh and pestilence is won when you are lost and I am gone
And no hope, no hope will overcome
And if your strife strikes at your sleep
Remember spring swaps snow for leaves
You'll be happy and wholesome again
When the city clears and sun ascends
And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no"
And my head told my heart
"Let love grow"
But my heart told my head
"This time no, This time no"
Nickel Creek has been one of my favorite bands for a while, so it is appropriate that my first music journal entry would be about Nickel Creek. The acoustic trio has definite bluegrass influence, but likes to call themselves ‘progressive acoustic’. The 3 permanent members are Chris Thile (Mandolin), Sara Watkins (Fiddle), and Sean Watkins (Guitar). I have to say Chris Thile is my favorite! The Mandolin has such a distinctive charm to it’s sound, It honestly makes the music for me. It helps that Chris Thile is considered to be one of the most talented Mandolin players around, and has a sparkling personality. I like to think that Nickel Creek has the a perfect blend of uniqueness and old world charm. There music is has the soul, and sound of music from generations ago, but there is still something refreshing about their delicate instrumentals and thoughtful lyrics.
The song I choice by Nickel Creek Is called ‘This Side’. The first lyrics are talking about a girl, a distinctive one at that. A girl with such presence she changes things for you. But I wouldn’t consider it a love song. It goes on and talks in the chorus about being scared and not finding a place to hide. By the last chorus he isn’t scared anymore. I think this song is talking about overcoming obstacles, and not necessarily in relationships. It has a very happy timbre to it, and it always puts me in a better mood. Whoever the song is meant to be interpreted, it definitely has an encouraging message.
